As per my belief and my way of thinking, 'Autism', recognized as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), presents a multifaceted and lifelong opportunity having extraordinary way of communication to the world. This makes them Special. It is termed a spectrum disorder because its impact varies among individuals, particularly manifesting between the ages of 2 and 3. The actual medical definition will be different.

According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 100 children are affected by autism. The abilities of individuals with autism vary and may evolve over time. While some can live independently, others require lifelong care and support due to severe disabilities. Evidence-based psychosocial interventions can enhance communication and social skills, thereby positively affecting the well-being and quality of life of both individuals with autism and their caregivers.

Nearly 50 million children worldwide are affected by developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, speech disorders, cerebral palsy, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as per the World Health Organization.

The novel 'Neel Ranger Ful' by Ishani Roychaudhuri delves into the lives of special children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and cerebral palsy. The author eloquently portrays autism not as a deficiency, but as a unique fulfillment.

These children possess a different perspective of the world, perhaps even more profound than ours. The concept of right and wrong is subjective and changes over time, based on perception. Similarly, the perception of children with special abilities often surpasses that of ordinary humans, making it challenging for us to comprehend. They are not merely special; they possess extraordinary abilities.

According to the World Health Organization, individuals with autism face similar health issues as the general population but may have additional healthcare needs related to autism or other concurrent conditions. They are at higher risk of developing chronic noncommunicable conditions due to behavioral risk factors such as physical inactivity and poor dietary habits. Additionally, they face increased vulnerability to violence, injury, and abuse. (https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/autism-spectrum-disorders)

Ishani Roychaudhari's novel beautifully depicts the contrasting attitudes of two family members towards the special needs of the character 'Bani,' later known as 'Shrabani.' It also explores Bani's friendship with 'Shaon,' a character with cerebral palsy. The novel evokes strong emotions, offering profound insights into life.

My three key takeaways from the book are:

1. Understand the needs of others, as they may possess genius beyond our comprehension.

2. The world is not always right, and our beliefs may not always hold true. Therefore, practice compassion and learn from others.

3. Special children are blessings to families; their unique perspectives should not be overlooked.

The author's description of the color blue is particularly noteworthy. Blue symbolizes compassion, humility, freedom, imagination, progress, and understanding. The blue flower 'Jhumkolata' (Blue Passiflora) recurs throughout the stories, symbolizing compassion and a progressive outlook on life.

I read the book and if I have to rate the book on 10 Stars and 10 being the highest, I will give the book 9 stars.
