Book Recommendation: ‘Shivkhuror Adbhuture Dunia’, bengali short stories written by Shri Swapan Bandyopadhyay
Short Stories' raison d'être is to divert the confabulations of a mind and learn from the author’s thoughts. Many of these stories touch human hearts in such a way that sometimes it is ineffable to describe the same in words. In ancient civilizations, short stories were the favorite pastimes of the grannies who used to tell tales with exuberant energy to their grandchildren. This type of short-form of story telling may be traced back in mythology, ancient folklore, legends, fables in all communities and cultures around the globe. Some stories are so imaginative that a rational mind deplores its occurrence. No matter how bohemian a story may sound, human souls have always enjoyed its vivacity and cessation, which somehow celebrates the essence of life.
The book, ‘Shivkhuror Adbhuture Dunia’ written by Swapan Bandyopadhyay, had made use of wonderful intellect in composition of the characters, plot, resonance and other dynamic components which had the capacity to engage any human souls to read till the end. The stories like ‘Gaan Jadi Ganner Moton Hoi’, ‘Shiv Khuror Sarkas Khela’, ‘Shikar Karlen Shivkhuro’, Shivkhuror Paketmar Bhaipo’, ‘Metro Rail e Bhuter Khappore’, ‘Satero Ghorosoyarer Bhut’ etc and many more are stories which are likely to captivate the readers. The character Shivkhuro in this book is an aged man and is the storyteller for everyone. His stories are interesting basically based on the way he produced them. The audience though found these stories very imaginative and are not rational, yet the sheer raillery of the expression made the frivolous mind enjoy the outcome.
